My Top 5 Highlights of London Fashion Week 09/12
This season’s
fashion week brought many new designers and innovative outfits into the
spotlight; with crazy prints from Mary Katranzou and Peter Pilotto, metallic
trenches from Burberry, and even a poodle as the ultimate accessory on the
catwalk - we are set for spring/summer!
LFW 09/12
was absolutely bursting with highlights and gorgeousness, but after much
deliberation, I have narrowed them down to five of my favourites!
1)
The
beauty that is FYODOR GOLAN
This
super glam silk dress would fit perfectly on the red carpet! The colour
electric blue is transformed into regal elegance, whilst the teaming of this
extraordinary neckline with the beading detail over the bust just establishes
this dress in its beauty. Fyodor Golan’s creation would make a prom perfect
dress for a wannabe princess.
2) CHRISTOPHER BAILEY and the Metallic Trench
Burberry Prorsum’s metallic trenches, designed by
Christopher Bailey, are the perfect statement coat for this season. This
particular one caught my eye because the lace detail is so intricate; it adds
another dimension to the classic cream trench.
3) JAMES LONG’s Marvellous Monochrome
I love
the transformation of the peplum here, from a summer staple into a winter
leather jacket with a pleated peplum trim. Monochrome remains a timeless
trend, but here it is not as straight or edgy. The embroidered pattern on the
body of the jacket gives femininity to this structured, and almost masculine
jacket. I hope to see tones of this design in the high street soon!
4) HOLLY
FULTON'S Woven Florals
This
dress by Holly Fulton is just extraordinary. It incorporates the popular peplum
shape, but what makes it exquisite is how the fabric looks almost woven, like
cross stitch, and with flowers that look pop out as if they have just been
picked. The colour palette is perfect for summer, flattering, and a statement
dress.
5) The New Dress and Shorts Combo, courtesy of MARIOS SCHWAB
Marios Schwab’s catwalk collection featured pleats,
tassles, geometric patterns and shorts as an outer-underwear. This gorgeous
pale pink dress is reminiscent of the 1920’s flapper style, with a bead overlay
that outlines and flatters the body shape. Wearing a visible pair of fitted
embroidered shorts under a dress is one concept that I never thought of trying!
But this
outfit just works, and could be replicated using high street brands. In fact,
Marios is soon to launch an exclusive range for Debenhams! But for now, I have
teamed a white lace sleeveless dress, some black lace trim shorts, a studded belt
and some accessories to make a great grunge girl outfit. Try it yourself. Thanks
Marios!
